These activities can be done solo or with a partner, and some tie into body attributes and the relationship system.
Ball Sports and Traditional Athletics
Basketball is one of the returning highlights. In gameplay footage Jason shoots hoops on a court, and there is a half-court setup right outside his home. Players can pick up a ball and shoot at any time, and may be able to join street pickup games. Basketball is not just a pastime; it may also raise focus- or fitness-related attributes.
Pool returns, appearing in bar and club settings. It suits low-intensity socializing and betting.
Mini golf is confirmed, offering a light casual option. Whether full golf is playable still has to be verified at launch, but mini golf’s presence already provides a low-barrier entry point to competition.
Tennis courts are visible in promotional material, but full playable matches have not been confirmed.

Fitness and Combat Sports
The fitness system returns and is expanded:
- Weightlifting, punching-bag training, and similar workouts can change muscle and weight.
- You can work out with a partner to strengthen the relationship.
- Completing the mini-games successfully grants better buffs; failing may cost you stamina.
Backyard wrestling and street fighting/MMA-style bouts have also been shown in gameplay, offering looser, more entertainment-driven melee competition.
The shooting range offers precision shooting practice with a timer and target count, a good way to sharpen your gunplay feel.
Racing and Vehicle Competition
Racing is a traditional GTA strength, and this game covers more ground:
- Street racing: impromptu challenges on city roads.
- Off-road and dirt bike racing: motorcycles and ATVs dueling on mud and rough terrain.
- Track racing: formal Daytona-style circuits with professionally liveried cars.
- E-scooters: short city rides that can also turn into casual races.
Different vehicles and terrain handle differently, so racing is no longer just about straight-line acceleration; you need to choose the right machine and the right route.

Water and Extreme Sports
The Florida setting brings a wealth of waterborne options:
- Jet skis: high-speed water racing and chases.
- Airboats: exclusive to the swamp areas, well suited to shallow-water travel and exploration.
- Kayaking: unhurried travel along rivers and canals.
- Scuba diving and snorkeling: underwater exploration and treasure hunting, potentially tied to marine life.
- Swimming: free swimming in open water, where dolphin encounters are even possible.
Extreme sports include:

- Base jumping and parachuting: leap from a high-rise or cliff for a superb view.
- Possible cave diving and other exploration-oriented activities.

How They Tie Into Other Systems
These activities are not isolated:
- Body attributes: fitness directly affects muscle and weight appearance, which in turn affects animation and possibly identification.
- Relationship system: taking part together deepens the bond between Jason and Lucia.
- Criminal record: some activities (such as feeding animals or other low-violence pastimes) may produce a small positive adjustment.
- Exploration rewards: diving for treasure, animal research, and similar activities carry a collectible element.
The dual-protagonist design lets most activities support co-op or alternating participation, adding variety.

Design Significance
Through a rich set of sports and competitive activities, Rockstar turns Leonida from a crime-first world into a complete space you can live in, compete in, and relax in. Between high-intensity heists and chases, players can shoot hoops, paddle, skydive, or simply work out, giving the pacing a natural rise and fall. These activities also reinforce the world’s credibility: locals really are playing ball, working out, and racing, rather than serving as backdrops for the player.
Summary
GTA6’s sports and competitive activities cover basketball, pool, mini golf, fitness, street and off-road racing, jet skis, airboats, kayaking, diving, skydiving, and more. They are a way to unwind, and also a source of attribute gains, relationship depth, and exploration rewards.
After launch, players will genuinely shoot hoops on a Vice City street court, tear across the swamps in an airboat, race jet skis along the coastline, or leap from a high-rise and look down over the whole city. Together these activities form essential flesh on GTA6’s open world. On November 19, 2026, Leonida’s courts and tracks will officially open to players.
